Holiday Lighting and Decoration Installation Service

Are you excited about the winter wonderland you want to create for the upcoming holidays, but aren’t thrilled about the hours you’ll spend setting it all up? More homeowners and businesses are turning to professional holiday lighting services for a glow-up that’s both safe and spectacular. At Abulous Lighting, we offer a variety of popular services for local property owners including holiday lighting installation in Atlanta, Georgia, and surrounding areas.  We receive many questions this time of year so we decided to create a Christmas Lighting and Decoration Installation Service FAQ to help you be more informed.

How does the pricing work?

The lights are priced by the foot.  When the actual installation is complete, we count the number of feet to determine your actual cost. Equipment (bulbs, stringers, connectors, timers, clips, etc.) is a one-time purchase. You pay for equipment the first year and it becomes your property. Then we charge for installation/take-down.

The first-year cost is $8 per foot. $4 of this is for the equipment purchase (one-time charge). Installation is $4 per foot (takedown is included). So from the second year onward, you pay $4 per foot.

What do the light bulbs and decorations look like?

All of our equipment is pro-grade. Bulbs are faceted and wreaths and garland are full and thick. You can visit our Christmas Light page for more information on lights, wreaths, garlands, and bows.

Where do the lights typically go on a house?

Normally we put lights on the front of the house. Mostly on the horizontal parts, peaks, and gables. Occasionally we will install scattered or wrapped mini lights on trees. Some customers like the sides of their house lit and sometimes we light the roof peaks like the photo to the right.

How much power do the bulbs use?

Our LED bulbs consume less than one watt of power. In fact, we can safely install over 400 of our LED bulbs on a single outlet with no blown circuits or tripped breakers.A typical installation will use less than 50kWh which will cost about $6 for the season.

How are the lights controlled?

We install a timer with a photocell. When it gets dark the lights come on. If you want them to stay on until daylight set them to Auto. You can also set the timer to have the lights stay on for 4, 6, or 8 hours.

How do you attach the lights?

Typically the horizontal parts of the house have gutters so we use gutter clips to attach the lights to the gutters. Gables don’t have gutters so we use shingle tabs to attach the lights to these areas without gutters. Each light will have either a shingle tab or gutter clip so they are uniform and stay evenly spaced.

Do the bulbs ever break?

Since the bulbs are LED they don’t get hot which allows the manufacturer to make them out of plastic instead of glass so breakage is a rarity.

It looks like you do lots of climbing. You’re insured, right?

Absolutely, we carry Business Liability, Vehicle, and Worker’s Comp insurance policies. In fact, we offer 50% paid medical insurance to all of our employees!

When do you put them up and take them down?

We set an install date and a takedown date. We should put them up in October or November. Then when you want them to go on (typically after Thanksgiving) you just plug them in. We come to take them down in January (we schedule that day/time). You just unplug them when you don’t want them to come on anymore.

Current Trends in Holiday Lighting

Gone are the days when the post-holiday season was spoiled by hefty energy bills due to traditional lighting. Nowadays, LED lights have taken the lead, offering not just brighter illumination but also energy efficiency and durability. Take it a step farther with app-controlled lights that allow users to effortlessly change their lighting color or even sync them to their favorite festive tunes. And for those who want a little extra colorful flare, projector lights offer a great solution. With these, owners can adorn their spaces with patterns like moving elves, swirling snowflakes, or twinkling stars.

Choosing the Right Lighting for Your Space

The magic of the holiday season is often captured in the twinkle of lights, however, when it comes to choosing and maintaining these lights, there's an art and science that ensures they shine their brightest. Here are a few tips for choosing the right lighting for your space:

  • Size and Scale: A sprawling mansion and a quaint cottage won’t have the same lighting needs. Choose lighting fixtures that complement the size of your space.
  • Theme and Color: Planning a traditional red-and-green setup or a winter wonderland in whites and blues? Your theme will dictate your color palette.
  • Durability: Remember, outdoor lights face the brunt of winter weather. Opt for durable, weather-resistant lights that will last.

Maintenance and Upkeep

The maintenance and care of your holiday lights are important. Once the season's celebrations are over, the way you store your lights can determine their lifespan and performance for the years ahead. Check out these ideas to help your lights shine brightly and last longer.

  • Routine Checks: Regularly inspect your lights. It’s better to spot and replace a flickering bulb now than deal with a half-lit decorative feature later.
  • Weather-Related Care: Ensure your lights are secure, especially if a storm is forecasted. And always opt for waterproof fixtures.
  • Storage Tips: Post-holidays, store lights in cool, dry places. And a pro tip? Wind them around cardboard pieces to prevent tangling.
